Price transparency

You will never get a
bill you did not expect.

Every quote is confirmed in writing before we open your file, and it sets out our fee, the VAT, every disbursement, and what is not included. If the scope of the work changes, we tell you what that costs before we do it — not afterwards.

Get a written quote
  • Fixed fees as standardOn conveyancing, wills, LPAs and settlement agreements — the figure we quote is the figure you pay.
  • Capped hourly ratesWhere a matter genuinely cannot be fixed-fee, we agree a ceiling and we do not pass it without your say-so.
  • Disbursements itemisedSearch fees, Land Registry fees, the £526 probate application fee — listed individually, at cost.
  • No charge for updatesWe do not bill you for a five-minute call asking where things are up to.

Who you will be dealing with

Two partners who still
run their own files.

Elis & Wright was founded in 2009 by Carys Elis and Thomas Wright, both of whom had spent a decade in larger regional practices and had grown tired of watching clients get handed down to whoever was free that week.

The firm was built around a simple rule that still holds: the solicitor you meet at the first appointment is the solicitor who runs your matter through to the end. No case-handler churn, no being bounced between departments, and no wondering who is actually responsible for your file.

We are a Welsh firm and we practise in both languages — you are welcome to deal with us entirely in Welsh, in writing and in person.

What clients say

★★★★★

Sold and bought within eleven weeks with a chain of four, which I am told is nothing short of a miracle. What I appreciated most was being told the truth about the delays rather than being managed. Fee was exactly what was quoted.

Rhiannon M. — Llandaff

★★★★★

I went in expecting to be talked into a claim and was told, politely, that I did not have one worth running and why. That honesty is the reason I have since sent them two pieces of company work.

Gareth P. — Penarth

★★★★★

Dealt with my mother's estate at a point when I could not face the paperwork. Everything was explained once, clearly, and then simply handled. They also took the whole thing in Welsh, which mattered a great deal to my father.

Elin J. — Whitchurch

★★★★★

Settlement agreement reviewed and renegotiated inside forty-eight hours, and they got a materially better number out of my employer than what was on the table. Fixed fee, and it paid for itself many times over.

Daniel O. — Cardiff Bay
